Meetup Burn Out

Winter in the Mountains

For sometime now I've been feeling like I just do not have energy to attend local meetups that I used to love going to. I'm really not sure what explains it, or why now it has chose to manifest itself. However, there has been loads of change the last year, perhaps that is why. With all that being said, I'm running up against some serious meetup (and extra curricular) burn out.

My go to meetup collapsed about six months ago, with little reason why. Around that same time I took a new job. One that was slightly outside of my comfort zone and one that required me to acquire a new set of skills. While there were certainly some hard times and hiccups, this change has been by and large, extremely good for me both personally and professionally.

Additionally, I'm starting to run up against summer, which means tons of kids activities, vacations, and a general feeling of being extremely busy with things outside of work.

With all that being said, I'm running up against some serious meetup (and extra curricular) burn out.

I've attended a few meetups this year, not as many as I really want to, and not anywhere close to as many as I went to last year.

I used to feel shitty about that.

Now, I don't.

At some point, I decided that stepping back from some of the communities is what is best for me right now.

So if you don't see me around, just know that I'm taking some much needed time off.
